Infrastructure
The vision behind the newly-built Nicholas
Piramal Research Centre was to establish a world-class R&D program that would provide opportunities for young scientists in India to work in a world-class R&D environment. A key aspect of this vision was to make sure that all the scientists from the various functional groups would work under one roof, enabling efficient cross-functional interactions, teamwork and alignment with the strategic vision of the company. Another key aspect of this vision was to ensure that the scientists were provided with the best equipment, facilities and technology available in the world, enabling them to produce high-quality, world-class science. A third key aspect of this vision was to create a physical environment where scientists would enjoy coming to work, have a positive attitude and engender high morale.
