Dr. Somesh Sharma is the Chief Scientific Officer of Nicholas Piramal India Ltd. Dr. Sharma has more than three decades of rich and varied experience in pharmaceutical research and has worked with world-renowned pharma giants like S2 Pharmaceuticals, Calyx Therapeutics Inc., Anosys Inc. Dr. Sharma holds 14 issued patents and more than 30 pending applications. He has over 100 scientific publications to his credit and had raised over US $ 100 million in private and public moneys for the companies he has started.

Dr. Sharma was in the USA from 1967 where he pursued advanced studies to obtain a Doctorate in Pathology from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He has co-founded companies like Anergen, Wizard Laboratories, S2 Pharmaceuticals and Calyx Therapeutics.

Given his long tenure abroad, Dr. Sharma has a thorough knowledge and understanding about Intellectual Property, which is one of the determinants for success in the R&D area.
